The economic crunch is really making a lot of people tighten their belts. Most would want to save on almost everything, including getting cheap auto insurance rates. Do not worry. There are certain ways that can guarantee you with a lower rates for your auto insurance needs. The suggestions here may or may not be applicable to you. Just choose and improvise, if you can.
First, cheap auto insurance rates are associated with cars that are generally considered low-risk. That means, these cars are not often involved in accidents. These cars too are not expensive. Yes, an expensive car gets an expensive insurance. If you want cheap auto insurance rates, go for a car that is inexpensive, yet, highly efficient. A Honda or a Toyota will be good candidates in this category. If you are driving a pick-up, consider exchanging that with a sedan type because the smaller cars have slower engines and less prone to accidents.
One way of raising your insurance rate is by including a lot of names on your policy. If it is possible, limit it to yourself. The more names appear on the policy, the higher is the rate. Drive your teenage son or daughter to school or let them catch the school bus just to be able to keep the policy to yourself. This need not be permanent. You can explain to them that since the situation calls for it, they would have to cooperate and be a good sport. Once things get better, you can reinstate their names so that they can go back to driving your car.
Finally, try to keep out of accidents, however minor. This is a sure way to get cheap auto insurance rates. A stellar driving performance will make your insurer happy, which translates to substantial discounts to your auto insurance premium.

Medical payments (called MedPay) coverage pays for the medical expenses of you and your passengers after an accident. This includes accidents while you’re driving your car, while you’re driving someone else’s car (with their permission), or injuries to you or your family members while you’re pedestrians. MedPay will pay no matter who caused the accident, although if someone else is at fault your insurer may subrogate against them, meaning it will seek damages from the other party.
